Relief Operator x6

Canterbury Bankstown Council has undertaken to bring some of our domestic waste and recycling services back in house. As such, this has created opportunities for experienced drivers from within the waste industry to join our team on a permanent basis. 

The primary purpose of this position it to perform day-to-day operational requirements as directed by Work Coordinators in a thorough, professional and cost-effective manner that will meet contractual requirements

The salary for this opportunity is $66,801 (Grade D, Step 3) + 9.5% super.

Your duties in this role will include:
Operation of a range of plant and equipment including rear-load garbage compactors, street sweepers, brush cutters and blowers. 
Daily maintenance of plant to ensure safe and efficient operation. 
Day to day documentation maintained in an accurate and timely manner.
Perform and fill out pre and post check list daily
Ability to work autonomously and within a team environment
Assist in the safe, efficient and effective operation of garbage compaction vehicles   within the Waste and Cleansing Unit

Essential Qualifications
Class HR Licence

Essential Experience

Ability to operate plant and equipment used in the waste and cleansing industry 
Proven record of flexible work practices to accommodate change and provide responsive services to meet client’s needs 
Ability to write clearly and neatly when reporting equipment faults and completing job-sheets and reporting equipment faults to Workshop 
Awareness of the responsibilities of employees under the Work Health and Safety Act 
Experience working in a Team environment
